2. Type of ceiling (suspended-ceiling tiles, open warehouse).
3. Available electrical power (115V, 208/220, 480 single or three-phase).
THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE USING PORTABLE AC
There are three basic things to consider:
1. What kind of electrical power do you have available "close" to the portable air conditioner? If you need a 2Ton or larger unit, have your electrician find out what power is available. Typical power for larger units is 208/230Vac, 1-phase.
2Ton = 20Amps, 3Ton = 30Amps, 5Ton = 50Amps
2. How do you plan on removing the hot air from the space you are trying to cool? Typical duct size for up to 3Ton is 12" diameter flexible duct. You can run 25' away from the unit without degrading performance of the unit.
3. How do you plan to get rid of the condensation being removed by the portable? Most units have a 5-gallon tank. 2T and larger units may have a pump, so you need to find something like a sink or floor drain.
